Greetings, agents and welcome to Crossover Division!
Thank you so much for such an amazing first week! Thanks to you, we're already nearly 65% funded and approaching 125 backers!
Let's keep that momentum up and get this issue funded!
As a bonus, I'm going to share some art with you...not for Crossover Division #6, though, but for something really cool coming later this year, Tart / Crossover Division: Lost in the Labyrinth by Kevin Joseph, me, Tina Valentino, Ryan Kroboth, DC Hopkins, Cassie Bell, and James Powell.
That's right Tart and Crossover Division are crossing over (kinda on the nose for Crossover Division, don't you think).
This is something that Kevin and I have been working on for quite some time. The quick story is that a few years back Kevin and I were Kickstarting issues of our different series at the same time and asked our artist buddies Kyle Roberts (line art) and Ryan Kroboth (colors) if they could draw a little crossover print with our characters for backers of both campaigns. They came up with this...
Hank and Hector and Tart Acid struggling to contain the mythological Minotaur!
We loved it for nothing more than a great piece of fun art. And then one of us (neither of us remembers who) had a brief flash of HOW all four characters above could arrive at the exact same place and time, so we decided to write the darn thing...not really expecting to get it drawn, more to just see where it went.
I'll be honest. I had an absolute blast working with Kevin. Seeing how he approaches a page made me a better writer, so thanks, Kevin! Anyway, it turned out we liked it, so we hired artist Tina Valentino to draw it and asked Ryan Kroboth to color it. Ryan, of course, colors Crossover Division. Kevin asked DC Hopkins to letter it. DC letters Tart. Then, we asked both of our editors Cassie Bell for Tart and James Powell for Crossover Division to edit it.
Tina has been working on pages, and finished inks are starting to come in. They look amazing! I'd love to show you all of them, but spoilers abound, so here's a spolier-free page...
Kevin and I are really getting excited to share this, but this little teaser will have to do for now.
If you haven’t heard of Tart, it's an amazing fantasy series by Kevin and Ludovic Sallé following a group of time traveling demon hunters who weaponize the magic of time itself against the forces of Hell. Tart Acid is the latest member of this group, the Toxic Fruit.
Now it just so happens that Kevin has a Tart campaign running right now, Tart Volume 4: Perspective Shift, so you should really give it a look. Tart hardcovers are a beautiful thing in and of themselves, let alone all of the beautiful art and story inside them.
If you back both of our campaigns, then there just might be a bonus for you...more on that later.
This is definitely the season for launching on Kickstarter as I have multiple friends with campaigns, and I'm sure I'll share them all with you in the coming weeks, but my friend Steve Bryant's Shaken and Stirred graphic novel ends in about a week.
For decades, Simon Abbey has left a trail of bodies and has burned his share of other agents—professionally and personally. Abbey has gone rogue and those agents are lining up to take him down. Written by Steve Bryant (Athena Voltaire, Evie and the Helsings, Undead or Alive) and drawn by Rob Jones (Kate Carter Adventures, Highspot, Perfect Storm), with colors by Jason Millet (Athena Voltaire, Archie Versus Predator), Shaken and Stirred is an original graphic novel that follows a team of spies chasing a rogue agent across the globe.
Now, I know this has been kind of a long update, but here's a little reward for anybody still reading. Be one of the first 10 backers to message me via Kickstarter or e-mail, and I'll include the Tart / Crossover Division print above for you as a bonus. Digital backers, you'll get a digital version.
Again, thank you so much for your support.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via Kickstarter or e-mail at [email protected].
Thank you all again for believing in us and Crossover Division and giving us your support and trust.
